Posted this on the talk side. looks like noeone gets it.

I was going to put a supercharger on my ’04 GT, but I really hate the 5-speed-OD tranny it’s got. Would I be better off swapping trannys? (For which?) or just living with the high-end bog-down and putting on the blower.

WDYT.

It's not about being in 5th at WOT is about being at top end fourth and getting the next kick and its not a kick is a whoosh. In order to get into a good gear range during the shift to 5th (3,500 rpm+) you have to be at 5,500 rpm (110 mph)in 4th.

I am running 3.73s

hoping to have better responses here.

From what I'm reading, you're just not happy with the massive change in gearing from 4th to 5th, and I know what your talking about, it is a huge change.

I think (dont quote me) that the 6th gear ratio in a T56 is the same as the 5th gear ratio in the 5spd (not sure if its T45 or T3650, they are different, but not by much). Provided thats correct, you may be happy with a T56 since the drop wouldnt be so big. A blower wont fix the huge drop, but it will help to offset the change.

I vote Blower to help offset the tranny then do the tranny if you blow it up..

Deffinatley do the blower. Trust me you wont even think about your tranny. Do a blower and 4.10s and hang on for dear life. I have an auto and from a 65mph puch my car spins very badly.

There is a Tremec TKO600 5 speed with a 0.82 overdrive ratio. That would lessen the drop between 4th and 5th gear. The stock 5th gear ratio is either 0.68 or 0.62.

Blower... What ever you do with the tranny, you 're not making any more HP...

What if you had 100rwhp or more...? Don't you think you'd be moving faster....???
