Anyone have any first hand experience on supercharging a car that has a stock short block w/ 150K plus?.......the motor still runs GREAT (oil pressure good, etc)....i'm going to build up the rest of the motor over the next year and hopefully put a blower on it some time in 2005...however, I am debating on going ahead and rebuilding the short block as well.....i'm hoping for about 400-450 rwhp when all is said and done...i just don't think I'm trusting that on a 150K mile shortblock.....any thoughts?

I think that your asking alot to make 450hp at the tires on stock shortblock. At that amoutn of power, your pushing the limit of the block as well. If you just wanted to slap a blower on it, id say go ahead. That is of course assuming that you have a compression on all the cylinders.

If you have another car though, id go ahead and give it a shot. Worst case scenario is you have a broken 150k mile shortblock. nothing to really lose

eh....that's what I was figuring...i just don't want to blow it up and then redo it.....all the other parts will be new except that...i just don't want to fork up the money ....anyone know where I can get forged internals in a complete shortblock these days....i dont' want to pay for all that individually

Agree. I put a Procharger P1sc w/ 9lb boost and a three core intercooler on my 92. It has 140k on the clock. It still runs strong. The reason for only 9lb's of boost is to not blow the motor. Much more boost than that and your just asking for it. It won't get you any where close to 400hp on a stock motor.

TIMMY2734-i disagree with 450 being pusing it im the new issue of 5.0 mag the white lx is puting 533 to the ground with a 10lb vortech on a 100000 mile + stock shortblock i am building the same set-up with a main girdle and a re-built 302 ed curtis said i shouldnt have any problem and it could handle 10lbs but.................... anymore and the block will be the first to go. wating on my custom blower cam to arrive in the mail i plan to make 500+ to the wheels with a re-built worked 10lb 302 and run high to mid 10's also.
