My 98 GT decided not to start one day. I brought it to the dealer who said it was the security system. They got it out of theft mode and it still wouldn't start. Then they said it was the fuel pump, so I swapped this out myself to save over $400. The car's still blowing a 20 amp fuse located in the engine bay. Does anybody have any clue why this is happening? I've been fighting with this for two weeks now... I'm in need of serious help.

I am using the ford EVTM manuals for your car and it does not list the fuse by number.. can you pick the fuse out of this picture

after finding the fuse youre blowing, find the route of that circuit. me thinks you have a short to ground somewhere in the circuit, possibly with the load (component being powered). let us know

there is only two fuses there that will cause your problem.. it's either the EEC fuse or the fuel pump fuse.

you'll need a wiring diagram and a digital volt/ohm meter (dvom, not too expensive and a good tool to have)

or

alot of money so a ford tech can find it

well keep us updated... If it's the fuel pump fuse I would check the wiring above the tank and where it goes thru the body.. another common spot for failure is in the battery juntion box area.
