Ok so my 2004 gt has a vortech t-trim and a recently found spun bearing. I could either waste like another 1000 dollars or get a short block. But I hear they are a bitch to install. Any info or suggestions on what I should do or shortblock to buy Im thinking about this one MMR-800 - MMR 4.6 Street Mod 800 (up to 800HP) 2V, 3V or 4V - Shortblocks - Mustang Performance Parts

What do you mean a bitch to install? Pulling the motor and swapping everything over to the new block is not to bad as long as you are decent at turning wrenches and have the right tools for the job.

You really dont have much of a choice anyway. Its really not that difficult if you have the right tools and know your way around a car. A mustang engine is also quite easy to pull compared to most. If you know how to unplug connectors and remove some nuts and bolts you basically know how to pull an engine. Just pick up a repair manual and take your time.

I agree 100%. Yes the MMR 800 is nice, but since they are on sale right now from MMR directly, the MMR 900 is only $100 more and I think you are getting better parts! Especially since you have a T-Trim, you might as well get a great shortblock so you should not have to worry about it agian
Now you said you installed your vortech yourself which is all good
but where did you have it tuned? Whats your fuel system like?

LCR FTW, i was looking at one of their shortblocks today for one of their customers going single turbo:
The diff between the 800 and 900 is MMR's h-beams vs Manley h-beams. $100 aint bad considering the difference between the rods retail is more than that.
Putting new rods in and/or putting a new stock block in if it's messed up is nearly the same amount of labor as putting a new forged one in. You just have to transfer stuff over like all the pulleys, oil pump ect.
