How much HP should I be pushing with my mods below (see sig) as well as the Aftercooled Vortech S-Trim SC? (SCT tune by modulardepot.com)

Yah I know... Well between 8-10 PSI. The one I picked up on the website had a little thing at the bottom about HP (as it was installed on a stock engine) here it is:

Performance Stats Stock w/ V4FL218-140S
2000-2004 Ford Mustang GT
HP (Peak) 260 402
Torque (ft. lbs.) (Peak) 302 400

I'd love to see those numbers.

EDIT - Sorry it's kinda ugly, the left side is stock the right side is blown w/aftercooler HP & Torque.

those are flywheel numbers. 360rwhp would actually be about 420 flywheel hp. Vortech can't tune, SCT can get you more power. hence my larger prediction. get an exhaust and it will really help out.

Even if I picked up some JBA Shorties it would help out a lot?

i gained about 2 tenths and 1mph with just the JBA headers on the stock exhaust. it kinda defies all logic. get an X pipe instead, you will see more of a gain on an otherwise stock exhaust. the only reason i switched only the headers out at that time was because i had the engine out.

Alright, well as far as exhuast goes, can it cause my engine to blow if I stick with the stock headers? (Someone I know told me this and it has me paranoid) Right now I have on the American Thunder Catback by the way.

By the way - Can anyone tell me, aside from getting a dyno tune, how much PSI I will be running? I mean they told me between 8-10 so what do I say when people as me how many PSI I'm running?

Get yourself a mechanical boost gauge and go driving.

They're pretty easy to install. I installed mine along with an electric fuel pressure guage in one afternoon.

BTW, I'm running 8 psi with a stock mid-pipe and stock headers and an A/F of 11.5..

Definately get a boost and fuel pressure gauge.

Also, I believe the pulley that comes on S/SQ Vortechs will make about 8-10lbs on a stock GT. However, you're putting an aftercooler on it which will drop the amount of boost by a couple pounds, but power will still be up.

the stock headers are fine, they will not cause any problems.

i'm in Lorain County. last E-check i had i passed by a huge margin. that was with the stock H pipe though. but i highly doubt a catted X (like my SLP) will get me anywhere near failing. we'll see next year. anyway though, i think the changed the testing procedure and only scan your ECU for error codes. so if you have no error codes, you pass.

depends on what pulley you have. i have a 3.60" pulley. with the stock exhaust i saw upto 9psi. with my new exhaust i now see 6 maybe 7 psi. but that just means my engine breathes better (which is a good thing). if you have a 3.60" pulley, you'll probably only see 6-7psi because of the aftercooler.

With the right exhaust and a good tune on 10 lb's you can get 400 rwhp give or take. And about 380 rwtq

Hey guys, just figured I'd update you. I picked up some BBK Shorty Ceramic Coated Headers. I'm getting an SCT Chip from modulardepot.com burned - thing is, I didn't know I was getting the headers so the thing is, I don't think they are getting burned onto my chip. Will this make a bad difference or will I be alright with the headers on w/o them being burned onto the chip. I do however have the Flowmasters I have burned so I'm thinking I'll be fine. Let me know. Thanks guys.

Yep.....E-mail moddepot and ask them about your shortys. They probably won't make as much power as a LT set-up would though.

You're not talking about the new (new isn't the right word.....more like "whenever they're released in the next 5 years") equal-lengths, are you?

The chip should adapt to the increased air flow from the opened exhaust. It still reads all the sensors just like the stock computer.

Are they in the mail? Everytime I hear someone asking for an update on them, they wind up being pushed back another 3 months, or "still on backorder."

And as for the tune, forget chips. A chip can't adapt like the computer can. When you use a chip for your tune, it basically hijacks the computer and runs what it's programmed to run, not learning and adapting as much as the computer can. For peace of mind, I would much rather run it off of the computer.

Naturally aspirated, I guess a chip would be fine, since there's not at much at stake. With boost and a stock bottom end, I would want every safety net I could get.

Plus, with a chip you can't correctly communicate with the ECU (inspections, dealer work). So you would have to deactivate or unplug your chip, which also means going back to a stock tune on a blown car. I would be too scared to even turn the car on.
