Blown GT vs Sprayed GT

Bottle loses the advantage with multiple passes... Bottle temp, point in rpm band when spraying, launching rpm and such as well since the driver has to remember to warm, arm, purge, launch, shift, spray etc...

S/C driver just needs to worry about launch rpm and shift points :)

If it's a best out of 3 I vote for the bottle wining 2 of 3 though assuming both competent drivers and sticky tires on both rides.

What was your 60' ans what tires were you running?

My 60" was a 1.92 and that was on Nitto DR's as well.

My stock (Vortech SQ) pulley was a 3.60, good for about 5 PSI

Now I have a 2.95 which is making right about 11 PSI

A 3.3 would likely make 7 PSI

A 3.6" pulley is only good for 5 psi? You don't happen to have LT headers do you?

That's what WOT and window switches are for! A purge is not absolutely necessary either.

not realy with a nitrous car you dont have to worrie about anything you just sead, all you do is turn it on and when you hit full throtal it starts spraying. its not like fast and the furious with all the shiny lights and buttons to press lol. the micro switch is placed on the TB so once it hits FOT it starts spayin. you dont realy need to worrie about what rpm you spay. launch on motor in 1st gear then 2nd you start spayng all the way till 4 or whatever gear you pass the finish line

yes the stock pulley size is 3.6"

with the stock pulley, a stockish GT should see 8-9psi at a reasonable altitude. if not, something is wrong. i saw 9 all the time with mine. now if you have ported heads and/or cams, that will lower the amount of boot.

That's all I made with the 3.60 pully, was 5psi and made 300whp (Non-cooled)
Today with my 2.95 (aftercooler) at 11 PSI, I'm making 427 WHP on stock internals! BOOOOOOYAAAAAAAAA

I'd still go with the blown car. It wins because it's a always ready power adder that doesn't require filling, warming, purging, etc.

it really all depends. in the bigger drag cars its usually the nitrous car that takes the win. just because it doesnt wait for boost or anything to build once you hit it its there. but a 100 shot really isnt much at all. if he was spraying a 150 i would say nitrous all the way.

99-04 stangs both. which one do you guys think would win. One has Vortech with stock pulley and the normal bolt ons. Other has gears and a 100 shot.

The better driver. Two cars with similar power in a race will come down to driver plain and simple. You put a crappy driver behind the wheel of a 450RWHP car and they run 13.0 @ 114, same car with a good driver can go 12.0 @ 117. That's a huge margin of error but just the way it is.

a lot of factors in this...i raced a few blown GT's when i was running N/A and beat them only running 13.60's and raced some who blew me away at the same time...

from personal experience...given even drivers and such i would put my money on the n20 car...can come out of the hole a lot stronger if the grip is there and we all know how much the 60' accounts for the final time...

i went as fast as 7.80's@91 on a 125 shot, 3.73's stock tune and BFG DR's and in doing so was racing a buddy of mine who has a twin turbo '90 notchback making ~400rwhp i would leave him out of the box and he would be playing catch-up and i would typically beat him by about a 1/2 car or so...

as for personal preference, n20 does offer great bang for the buck, you can certainly fill alot of bottles for the thousands of dollars you save on a blower, but if i were to do it again i would chose the blower for the all around power...

Assuming they could both hook, and they are both equally competent drivers; nitrous GT at the track.

The Vortech needs to build boost, nitrous comes on full force and will make more tourqe all across the board pretty much.

On the highway, the nitrous car would get the jump and get reeled in I would say. You are only supposed to spray for so long anyway, and spraying in 5th gear is ALOT of stress on the engine if you got up to those kinds of speed.
