Hey guys, I have completely disasembled my coupe, I have left on the body moldings on the fender, door and body that are held on by double side tape so far, is there any way of getting these off without damaging them?? I know if not removed carefully they will get a wavy look to them. The prices on 50resto are completely insane!!! I hate to have taken this car so far and not take these moldings off and paint everything seperately but for the price on 50resto they will just have to stay on when it's all painted

I know what you mean. I completely disassembled my car for paint, but left the side moldings and door handles for my body guy. They still ended up with some wrinkling along the bottom.

The key is to just keep them as straight as possible when removing them; bend them as little as possible while pulling them off. If you're patient, you should be able to get them. Also, take your time while removing the remnants of the double sided tape. Keep them on a flat surface at all times after removal/before install.

When I first bought my Stang. It had several problem with the molding all the way around the car. Some spots would start to come up on the ends and the molding on my door was completely warped. I ended up having to scrap it, and went on the search for new or atleast un-warped driver's side body molding. I thought the same of 50resto, and I ended up finding a used molding off of ebay for very cheap compaired to 50resto.

Patiences is the key in removing and applying. Hopefully you have some, because I sure didn't. That was the worse repair experience of my life lol.

I just went thru this in the past couple weeks. Mine just come out of the body shop 2 days ago. The guy told me to get new molding instead of useing the old ones. 5.0Resto had a pair for the doors and he said he would guive them to me for $350.00 shipped. That was just the door moldings. He then told me that the front fender moldings are attached to the ground affects and he has been looking for one guy for over 6 months, and they were like $700.00 ea. But he could not find them anywhere.
The shop just left the door molding on because they said once they are removed the will get warpy and with in a year they will start to come off. The dude @ 50 Rest said the same thing. The others he removed and painted, they look brand new. I needed one track on the pass ground affects to bring it back in place but that was all.
I will be posting some pics after this weekend. I was very happy with the outcome.

The door moldings are the ones that scare me the most about removing, the other ones are short and will be easy to get off the car. Th 50resto price is insane, I can remember about 7 years ago getting a brand new OEM ford door molding for $75 bucks

The front pcs are attached to the ground affects. It's one piece. MUSTANGS UNLIMITED had them fot the pass side of the car and he wanted like $400.0 just for that pc, and he told me it was from a ford dealer. It was the on;y one they had.
