Body work--looking to get an idea of cost

I'm thinking about buying this car, its a 91 lx convertible. Can anyone give me a rough idea of what I'd be looking at to have this damage fixed? Thanks for the help!

Just replace the whole piece. You can buy the rear quarter for ~$170. This way you don't have any hidden rust in the quarter. The quarter is going to have to be cut out and the new one welded in. The real world price for this job and paint is arount $1500 to $2000 for a professional job. It is going to look silly though because one have of the car is going to have new paint and the other half is going to be faded red. So, if you were going to do it right, just get the whole car painted.

One more thing, look for rust on the deck lid (trunk). It likes to hide in the folded seam on the deck lid where it meets the taillights.

Thanks for the info. Do you know how tough it is to remove the panel? What do you mean when you say "cut out"? Are they welded in?

FYI- I do plan on repainting the entire vehicle.

The rear quarter panels are tack welded onto the unibody, so you have to cut or drill the welds to get the panel off.

Just cut that area out of a donor car, and weld it in yours. You don't need to replace the whole quarter for that. Do you plan on getting the whole car painted anyway?

The list of mods:
All Ford Motorsport parts used.. Cobra upper and lower intakes with the 24lb injectors. Ford 190 lph fuel pump. Ford Motorsport E303 camshaft. Ford Motorsport 3:55 ring and pinion with spedometer recalibration. It has a Pro 5.0 shifter. BBK longtube headers with 3 chamber flowmaster mufflers. The Ford Motorsport clutch has 3000 miles on it. The motor itself has 3000 miles on it as well.

Any help is much appreciated!

Painting is very labor intensive, if you want it to look right you gotttta spend a decent amount of coin.

If you can't find a part on their search, just give them a call. They always have the parts in stock just not always on the website.

that one little spot could be pulled and straightened fairly easy. The paint won't quite match up, but a good painter can match faded paint fairly well...Not worth replacing a quarter skin for that little corner. Take it to a shop for an estimate....they are generally free.
