19-24lbs then use a plastic gauge. I think it is like 0.0006-0.0014. But check the book for oil clearence. Should be the same. Rods do not get that much, the main caps get torqued higher, but your probably past that point.
The main caps i believe are 60 or 70.
It just seems so low for the rod caps. I just wanted to see what everyone else said, because this place is answer central, filled with so many people know now a lot about mustangs. My family are Chevy an Mopar guys. I am the odd man out.

I just rebuilt my motor this month and torqued mine to 22lbs. I had stock rods and stuff though. Oil clearance is the concern, should be the same.
There has to a slight gap inside of the bearing for a thin layer of oil to build up. That is why one usually gap checks the bearing with plastigauge. The factory torque of 24ft.lbs. is fine.

You need oil clearance for the oil to get between the rod bearing and the crank or it would be rubbing metal to metal. You probably will have proper oil clearance anyway but if not read the book, find out the specs and go buy some for $2 and do the build right. It is a very easy process and should be done for the main journal bearings as well. If your not too far along then I would really suggest it, if you tighten too tight your loosing oil clearance, very bad!!! Usually they will give you a set of plastigauge when you buy the bearings
