Bolt won't come out!

I have a stripped bolt on the bracket that holds my seat down. I have tried everything I can think of to get it out ... I banged it with a hammer, and heated it up with a propane torch ... no luck.

Should I cut it off and try to drill it out with my drill press?

Cut it off flush and drill it out. I assume you have tried vice grips with the torch?


Then just weld in a new bolt/threaded rod.

Well its pressed in and rusted in, so cut flush, soak it with something and punch it out..........

i love my drill press! it was not welded in there. once i removed enough of the top (ie- the square part), i was able to bang it out with the hammer.

a hex bolt fits in there well enough that it doesn't turn and i can get a nut on it

now i finally have both front seats re-covered and in the fairlane!
