hey i got my new arp head bolts yesterday, my thumper e7s are the machine shop getting cleaned up and checked over..


i've heard so mant torque values for heads and what to put on em.


would this work
coat all bolts with 30w oil and the small ones with threadlock and torque them to around 75ft lbs???

not sure on what torque to tighten em at...

Run your butt to the nearest autoparts store and by a Hynes manual. All of the torques are in there as well as the bolt pattern. It'll cost $20.00 but it's better than redoing a set of head gaskets next week.

The lower bolts go through the water jackets so they will need pipe dope on them or ARP thread sealer. Search up a post from JRichker for many good tips.

read the arp instructions, arp fasteners and the lube you choose are different than a stock bolt

i have a haynes book i am not sure if the ARP bolts are like the flanged bolts (on 93 models) or not.

also where can i get the ARP sealer...

I recently did the heads on my car due to blown head gasket. I used ARP stud kit from Summit $85. and ARP thread sealer, and thread lube from the local parts store. try not to use 30wt oil when assembling, it is not as slick as assembly lube. The studs made installing the heads a whole lot easier, and in my opinion provide more acurate torquing. The torque values were higher due to the capablity of the studs. Follow there instructions. If you do not torque them down correctly it will cause problems.

Yup! Follow what the BOLT manufacturer says to torque them to and use what lube they say to use! Different lube changes the values.

do they sell the ARP sealer at parts stores??

i ran a tap through the head bolt holes to clean em up and the bolts slide it effortlessly, nothing is in the way.

the arp bolts i have were lightly coated b4 shipping.

can i use a moly assembly lube( have heard u can) on all and then pipe dope on the shorter bolts??

Moly lube on the uppers and thread sealent on the lowers.

The bolts are lubed in the box so they don't rust.

Good job using a tap to clean out the threads.

yeah people said to do it. they said "chase" whats that mean, does it mean to stick a tap in there to clean???

so i dont use anything but the thread sealer on the lowers?? no lube for them?

Yea,they say chase cause thats what your supposed to use....you shouldnt have messed nothing up though.

Thread sealant goes on what ever bolts bolt go into the water jackets.Also,make sure you lube up the head and washer (both sides) good,it aids in accurate torquing.
