Boost Gauge acting funny?

I'd like to know how the mechanical boost/vac gauge in my car should be acting....currently it always reads '0' before starting the car....but it stays on the vacuum side during almost all driving....I haven't really mashed on the gas pedal yet to get the centri going, but is that normal....seems like the gauge hasn't even broken into + numbers yet....is it possible that something could be hooked up wrong....seemed too simple to fu*k up...just a little hose that I teed into the red line above the fuel rail....same hose that my bypass is feeding off of?:shrug:
