boost gauge not reading any boost

Just installed a boost gauge and have about 15 to 20 vac , backed it out of the driveway and drove down the road and all i can get it down to is zero . I hooked the boost gauge to the vac tree by the master cylinder is this the right place? I have 6 Inch lower pulley and 2.90 upper pulley... I should be putting out about 7 to 9 Psi at 6000 rpm's ... but don't have anything... check the gauge out with low air from my compressor 7 Psi and it reads about 7 Psi. So the gauge is working... Any Help would be Great...
