I'm looking for mufflers to have installed on my pony, and I've come to the decision of getting Borla, however, I'm not 100% sure which ones to get. I just want to get the mufflers and have a shop weld them in, rather than spend $500 for a kit. Are the Borla Stainless Pro XS Muffler's a good choice? I do not, and repeat, do NOT want my car to sound like a ricer in ANY way, it's a '99 Mustang GT - all stock. My friend has a '00 Stang GT with off road X-pipe and dual flow's on it, and it sounds really good. I'm looking for the classic deep sound on idle with a fairly loud WOT. I think these mufflers would do it... whaddya think? (i'll get an offroad H-pipe after I can afford it)

The regular borla turbos sound pretty good with a mide pipe. kind of tame with the stock cats. If you want stait up race sound get the xr-1's. they make a kit for the cobra's with xr-1's. best sounding catback I have ever heard IMO.

I would call borla and ask what they put if the normal cat back. I don't know if the xs are the same are not.

You won't get the sound that you are looking for with the Borla kit. If you like the sound of the flows then get the flows. I have had flows on all of my previous mustangs and I just wanted something different this time and I love my Borla kit.

i have flowmasters on mine and i think it's too quiet.. but i still have the stock h-pipe :(

it sounds great if you add an x-pipe to it. I would go with the flows, but I want a distinctive sound that my friend won't have. I think borla would do it, but I'm not 100% sure about it. I'm going with the off road mid-H pipe tho.

road to good sound and performance

If you want your stang to sound good,

Bassani Off Road X pipe or Mac Prochamber H-pipe,(I have bassani X it sounds great) don't forget MIL eliminators or chip

Flowmaster 40's series 2 chamber flows, (can be welded in or $$$ get catback)

You'll put rice to shame with this setup,
I wouldn't bother with borlas

just get the borla's. you won't regret it at all. xr-1 if you want to put your friends flowmasters to shame. just strait turbo's if you like an agressive yet not obnoxios sound.

plus they will flow way better. it is win win.

Do you have any sound clips of your car? I plan on going w/no cats since I can get away with it here in SA, TX.

Is there a big difference between the Pro XS and XR-1 mufflers?

I have the Borla's XS in my 97 GT, to me they are quiet, maybe bcuz i still have my stock midpipe, they sound really deep and at WOT they get alot louder, I imagine that with a midpipe, they would sound really mean, I will be getting a bassani X in the near future, ill let u guys know how it sounds.
