Boss Dealer info

I don't know what some of you guys have been told about the Boss, but as I'm interested in getting one of them, I've been working closely with a rep to try and order one. Basically, this is the email he sent to me earlier today:

"He said it will be a limited vehicle. Only the top 75% of dealerships will get only 1, and they are building around 500 of them; they cannot be ordered. He said they will sell for something crazy like 10K above sticker price. He did say he has had members put a deposit down on a vehicle 2 years before one has come out, and if you would like, he will find out if we are able to do this with the Boss. The only thing is, there is no way of telling what color/features the vehicle they get will be... if any!"

Anyone else heard anything like this? If this is the case, I'll just buy the Shelby.

Even though they haven't released pricing, I would guess that 10K above sitcker put the Boss in or above GT500 price range. I would just get a GT500 in that case. More power for sure, but may not handle as well as a Boss. Me personally, if I could afford a GT500 I would take one over a Boss anyday. I hate when they limit production numbers. They should build as many as people want. That's just freaking lame, lame, lame!!!!!!!!!!

Don't believe everything you hear from a dealer. Every dealership has a salesman who loves to pretend he/she has an inside track to the factory and knows all kinds of cool info that's not available to the general public. In this age where every secret makes it onto the internet the moment someone knows about it, it's incredibly unlikely for some sales slob at a dealership to know stuff that the enthusiasts and automotive press don't know.

It's possible that some dealers will mark up the Boss Mustangs, but there's no way it's going to be that much of a limited production vehicle. It doesn't have that much more content than a regular GT, and it's going to be a great marketing tool for Ford, so they'd be insane to make it that hard to get.

ya why would ford only make 500 of a car they could possibly sell 10k of them.

Simple economics guys...low quantity, more demand, higher transactional pricing, higher resale value, etc...Thats what happened with the 07-09 Cobras. Ford built to many of them and flooded that market. Ask anyone who had one who traded one in in the last two years what they got for that car.

I'm ok with the total production being low...2000-4000 cars per year...the standard Boss won't be that limited. The Laguna Seca model will be. That one they are only building a few hundred of.

My store has been offered several of these. We'll have multiple colors and I'm sure we'll take orders on the Boss as well. I'm sure we'll ask a markup too, though not nearly 10k. MSRP would be cool on a ordered unit I'm sure. Personally, I believe everyone is jumping the gun though. It's still a long time from now when the cars hit the floor and then we'll see what the market is like on them and what the production numbers will be. Having seen this car at SEMA and the response from folks, I'm sure Ford is going to have ZERO trouble selling this car. And, personally, being a road race guy, I'd take the Boss over a GT500 anyday. Wieght kills.
