Bought a Silver 99 V6 today!!!! Now i personally never thought i would be so excited to buy a V6 mustang seeing that i own a 65 V8 coupe, but i drove to Houston to see the car and knew i had to have it when i got there. The car is so much fun to drive. Everyone loves the feel of horsepower right underneath your foot, but this V6 is just fun to drive. Its a five speed, so that makes it all the more fun. Its kind of a relief to pull up to a light and not have someone trying to rev or race you. Everytime i stopped at a light in my 65, which i drove daily untill today, someone would want to race me. I can actually just cruise along and still enjoy the ride just as much. Am i alone in saying that I think im going to like driving the V6 daily as much as i am the 65 on weekends. < I never thought i would say something like that. Well just wanted to share the exciting news of the day in my small world with the rest of you guys who love mustangs as much as i do.

You hit the nail on the head. I guess you could say i was an ingorant mustang owner prior to today. I loved my 65 coupe to death and thought i would never buy a mustang unless it was V8. But i am admiting my blind ingnorance until my eyes were opened today. So to make it short im tryin to say that nobody should underestimate the value of a V6 and the amount of fun it can bring to daily driving. Because i personally know people who think the same way i used to think and would never buy a V6. But YES i slammed the v6 for years but now i love it. just wanted to share my story with you guys i wasnt really posting for any reason other than to entertain you guys with my ignorance.

You don't live around a bunch of ricers, do you? I'm by a university and all these import-driving cockgobblers try to race me or do fly-bys on me. They think the V6 is an easy kill...until you show them you will always kill them off the line, and you can still beat them up top.

***And I'm talking about the 98% of imports that suck. So I don't want anyone coming in here with WRX or EVO timeslips calling me an idiot.***

You'll change your mind when the newness wears off. The 99+ V6 is a GREAT daily driver, but they'll never come close to any of the classics. I pulled the engine out of my '66 almost two years ago. Even though I'm getting a 302 for it, it's gonna get another 200 for at least a year because not being able to drive it is killing me.

Nice to see you've come around to the "Dark Side"....lol

My current car is my second V6. In the past I had two V8's and one V6.
The V8's rule but for a everyday fun to drive car the V6 is the way to go and with gas prices headed sky high you can drive the 6 much more.

A tip I shall share with you is install Sub Frame Connectors.
I love my V6 but I enjoy it so much more now that I have installed sfc's.
The ride is much nicer and a bunch of vibrations are gone so it's a must even if it will be the only mod you ever do.

Speaking of vibrations, I've always had a weird vibration in the back left of my vert ever since I've had it. It's not a metallic sound and I have never been able to figure it out. It's only when I have around or less than 1k RPM and I accelerate. Sorry about being off topic, but it's easier than wasting thread space.

It's good that you've found out that V6 stangs arn't that weak. Welcome to the V6 board. Can you give us some more info/future plans for your stang? Got any pics? Enjoy your stang!

You're in the New & Old club now, so we need a pic of the two together.

Congrats. I too own a silver 99 V6. And when your a person who owned a 2.3 LX prior and all my other vehicles were 4 cylinder (no more then a 1.8) Having a V6 an passing most people without a hitch (except GTs and UP) its a good feeling. Mines a 5 speed too and it rocks. I do have plans to drop in a ProCharger but when the monies there.

Toss in 3:73's and you can still take it to 90 in third... and chirp 4th through the traps. You'd be about 700 over redline so a chip is needed.

I've owned a 5.0 and the V6 is so close to the stock power level. It's all I needed at the time. I moded right away for looks and a minor power increase and I only have more fun in the SVO's. Just can't beat the Turbo factor.

For low end torque and low speed tail sliding corners, it's a joy to drive. As Massarian mentioned - get subs. I still have to get them into mine - haven't modded the 6 since I got the first SVO - but I'll get that done in the next few weeks. Maybe then I'll get get ET to correctly reflect my trap speed.

FYI - that run in my sig was against a GT. We both spun horid 2.4 - 2.3 60 FT and she only beat me by a second and a tenth. 15.4 to 14.3. I was on street tires and she was on Drag radials.
