I'm sure alot of you saw it and called last night, but I was able to go pick it up. What a smokin deal. it said 87 saleen but really it is a 89 saleen coupe #348 it is one of 20 made in the coupes. It has been wrecked, and messed up the roof pretty good. Here are some pics of it.

I don't know what plans are yet. It wasn't wrecked so bad I would fix it and sell my 2000. but it may be going on ebay. But I do love this car and it looks sweet.

Neat car!

89-0348 is the only white Saleen coupe with a blue interior. Vehicle was also a radio delete and left Saleen Autosport with an SVO shift knob.

Contact Pati at Team Saleen for production info: http://www.saleen.com/membership_info.htm

Contact Greg when you start to look for parts or general history: http://www.saleenls.com/

Lastly, pick up a copy of The Saleen Book by Brad Bowling: http://www.bradbowling.com/

Great car, good luck!

Very nice, did you get it for a good price? Is there something special about the body or could you find a straight 4cyl car and start from scratch and build swap everything over?

The "something special" is having the VIN match the Saleen build number. If it doesn't, the car will be worth no more than half of what it would if all the numbers match. You could still do it and it would walk like a Saleen and quack like a Saleen, but it still wouldn't be a Saleen.

Yea I love this car, I even had considered sell my 00 saleen to keep and fix this one. But I dont know because I hate selling stangs. But no I will not part this car out. I will sell it to someone to hopefully fix, or clone another coupe, before I will.

Yea and If I would of had the money I could of had the 87 saleen coupe 1 of 10 cars that was on craigslist also for $2500, because I saw it right after it got listed. Then the saleen president guy who came from seattle to look at that car low balled the guy, so he kept it and listed it on ebay ang got $6500 for it. But this car is way nicer than that one.

Now now now...no dissin' on the Saleen guy.

Time to set the story straight:

I was the first to call the guy on the SSP Saleen. He had listed the car at $2500. He didn't know what he had or what it was worth. I drove my big 10mpg truck all the way to Oregon City. When I got to Oregon City, I called the guy to get the final directions to his house. It was then that the guy (a Portland cop) tells me that he has an offer of $3500 on the car. I didn't reply to his comment, but proceded on to his house. I viewed the car for over two hours and decided that the car was basically totalled and way more of a project than I wanted to take on. I thanked the guy for his time and left. Apparently he had a bunch of calls on the car and they were bidding against each other. He then realized that the car he had was worth a few bucks and decided "the only fair way to sell the car was to put it on ebay". I don't think he would have sold me the car for the original $2500, the price that it was when I left my house that morning. So he already had jacked the price $1000 by the time I got there. And that is the rest of the story.

Notchback Saleens are very rare and SSP's even more rare. I love to see a true Saleen lover get one.

So congrats on your purchase, but ease up on the Saleen guy from Seattle. I'm one of the good guys

By the way you can get in touch with many Saleen owners at:
