Yea and If I would of had the money I could of had the 87 saleen coupe 1 of 10 cars that was on craigslist also for $2500, because I saw it right after it got listed. Then the saleen president guy who came from seattle to look at that car low balled the guy, so he kept it and listed it on ebay ang got $6500 for it. But this car is way nicer than that one.
Now now now...no dissin' on the Saleen guy.
Time to set the story straight:
I was the first to call the guy on the SSP Saleen. He had listed the car at $2500. He didn't know what he had or what it was worth. I drove my big 10mpg truck all the way to Oregon City. When I got to Oregon City, I called the guy to get the final directions to his house. It was then that the guy (a Portland cop) tells me that he has an offer of $3500 on the car. I didn't reply to his comment, but proceded on to his house. I viewed the car for over two hours and decided that the car was basically totalled and way more of a project than I wanted to take on. I thanked the guy for his time and left. Apparently he had a bunch of calls on the car and they were bidding against each other. He then realized that the car he had was worth a few bucks and decided "the only fair way to sell the car was to put it on ebay". I don't think he would have sold me the car for the original $2500, the price that it was when I left my house that morning. So he already had jacked the price $1000 by the time I got there. And that is the rest of the story.
Notchback Saleens are very rare and SSP's even more rare. I love to see a true Saleen lover get one.

For $1300 I'd keep the car even if you can't fix it now. Someday you might be able to do it and you'll wish you still had it.
I know I wish I would have not sold some of the cars I had. (Like my 89 Saleen) I'm glad I saved my High school sweetheart a 67 Fastback! Its still sitting there waiting for me to get her going again!!

Thats what I keep thinking, because in the end this is going to be one of those cars that is worth a ton, and I will look back and think, man I wish I never sold that car.
I could see keeping it because you don't have much invested....less than what I just spent for some wheels and tires!!
The hard part is storing it inside. I have had my 67 garaged for many years.......at times it was a challenge but now it's nothing and I would have always regretted selling it, especially with the prices of the older cars now.
I would love to get something like this now that I just finished my shop. I would have the room and place to redo it!
Yea yesterday I did some cleaning of my garage, and I was able to get all four stangs in there with the quad and can open all the doors and walk around them without touching any of them. So it is alittle better, untill I want to get the quad out. LOL
Thats a great deal on that car. I vote for fixing it. It might be worth the effort if you're really attached to it already.
Glad to here your not parting it. you got it so cheap its well worth restoring. Dont rebody it, it wont be a saleen anymore. Rebodying may be easier but it is almost as bad as parting it out. The Vin is everything with these cars.
