Bought my first Mustang but I have Some Questions?

I bought a 01 GT with 80k miles from a dealer and have some simple questions...First of all the dealer guys new nothing about the car as far as it having any mods done to it so im trying to find out so any help would be nice:

Exhaust: What do I look for to tell if anything has been done to it, it sounds stock but i could be wrong, i always like loud mustangs but this one barely purrrsss..

In the engine the only thing i could tell is it has something like this:

Im not sure if thats stock but it doesn't look like it, i can't see any labels on it.

Suspension: I have had a lot of cars in my time but this is the worst suspension i have ever drove on, every little bump its like a roller coaster, not sure if its because its a mustang (sports car) but im wondering if i need to do something to make it better.

Post pics of the exhaust and your engine.

As for the ride, install new shocks that are correctly matched to whatever springs you have.

Let me tell you, at 80k miles your shocks ARE JUNK and replacing them is going to be awesome and make it feel like a whole new car.

Congrats on your purchase :nice:

Just curious, but your join date says 2003? Have you been a member for 4 years, and you just now bought a stang?

Yep been drooling for a mustang for 4 years :D ...... i joined a while back because my friend wanted me to ask a question about his 92 gt but we never got the pictures up. I used visit this website alot to see pics but stopped a while back but im back..It took that long to finally convince the wife :)

Anyways i'll post alot of pics later today...I'm eager to start the modding!!

Actually I JUST bought a 2000 GT 2 weeks ago w/ 80k on it!

It has the same CAI on it as well...I checked the filter on it and I don't think it was ever changed....I dropped it on the ground and theres a pile of dirt where it hit. So I got a new filter but it didn't fit...SO I hacksawed the end of the pipe about 3 inches below the MAF sensor...Short ram intake now haha. (the part where it bolted to the body was all rusted out anyway.)

That was probably a K&N filter (or one like it) and you probably could just have cleaned it instead of replacing it.

I made the mistake of giving my sister a K&N filter a few years ago. A couple of weeks ago I took it out to clean it. There was a lot of greasy oily dirt on it. Probably had well over 30k miles on that filter.

Before you begin down the exciting and expensive road of modding, you should probably bring the car's maintenance up to date. Unless you know differently, you should assume maintenance has not been kept up. Change all fluids and filters, probably spark plugs, belts, hoses, etc. Get a Haynes manual to go with your owner's manual.

Most of the Stangnet members will be glad to offer advice to help you. Read up and use the search function. Oh, and welcome.

Maintenance done...So My first 2 mods are exhaust and suspension. Im planning to install the Saleen body kit and 18 inch wheels in the near future so what would be the best suspension to use to make sure it don't lower to low and then scrapes the floor once i install the Saleen Kit?

I really don't like buting different parts here and there so if anyone has links to a complete suspension kit with everything i need I would appreciate it.

For the exhaust I want something that can handle more horse power down the road since i want to install a supercharger, i do like loud mustangs though, any thoughts or links on complete kits?
