Bought some new parts for "Killer's" resurrection!!! DUW!

Spring is on its way, and so am I in terms of getting pieces gathered up to get the car back on the road soon!


The first item is a set of saleen tail light bezels already mounted to a nice set of 94-95 tail lights. I'm still not sure how I feel about these, but I got too good of a deal on them to pass it up. I plan to mount them on the car and see how I like the look. Has anyone ever seen these painted body color?



Here's the one I'm really excited about... do you know what it is?
(and no, its not the dirty car and unpainted hood, so save the ricer jokes!)

You guys guessed it! I picked up a factory '95 cobra hardtop.

Let me first say thanks to Ben (bimmertech) for his help with the many questions I had before I finally decided to buy this. I've wanted one of these for a LONG time now. I honestly don't know why, I just did. I told my wife a long time ago that if I ever came across one that I'd do everything I could to buy it. I think I wanted this one due to its uniqueness as there were only 499 ever made, and since I'll now have my daughter in the car occasionally, I feel safer with this on than a vynil top.
In all the research I did everyone said that it wouldn't fit on my car, but its on and latched as you can see. It took very minimal fab work to get it to work on my GT. It does hit my roll bar, but that won't be an issue for long. Anyway, here are some more pics. Please excuse the dirty car, its been sitting in the same place for 2 years now!
And yes, those are still the numbers on the window from the day I blew it up racing!







JJ95GTID- No, this won't make me legal, but it may slow me down enough that I don't need to be LOL! Its very heavy, it weighs in close to 150lbs! I wanted to get this before I had a custom bar made that way it'd fit with both the soft and hard top on the car.

I plan to keep the tails, again for their uniqueness. I know these are a hard to find and sought after item. I never plan to sell my car, so the more parts like these I can accumulate the better.


Joe- Officially the car has been off the road since April of 2005. It WILL be back though this spring. I'm just waiting on a few top end components for the engine and I'll be ready to drop the shortblock into the engine bay.


Charlie- I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I have photoshopped a number of pictures to see if I like the black top and A pillars on the yellow car. I "think" I do, but maybe I'll post some pics here to see what others think. I have to think about how it'll look with the hardtop on, the soft top up, and the soft top down. Its going to be a bit of a gamble I think, but it may pay off and look increadible. I'll work on getting some pics up that I've been playing with.

I have an extra set of 94-95 tails that I had painted black a few years ago. I put them on the car, and quickly took them off. I just didn't like the look back then. Now, I have to also concider what it'd look like with a possible black hardtop and window frame. Will it be too much black???

The rear three latches work without any issues. I will need to fabricate a mount for the front latch as there is a little rod that comes out from the top. It will not be hard to do. I simply pulled the A pillar plastic to mount the top on the car and it worked like a charm.

What do you guys think, go with the black roof and a pillars, or paint the top yellow?
