Because what the price was that they gave me up front was considerably lower than what they ended up charging me. They had a number of "reasons" why the price went up so much for a routine job. While I didnt agree with any of them, they had my car, and I had to hurry to leave to get back to PDX.
You own a convertible Fox body with 100k miles and you are calling my car a rattletrap? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. I was merely relaying my experience with the vendor. If the guy just wanted a bunch of folks to ride Brad's d*(k, he probably would have asked for that.
it does seem a little high....we charge $105 for shorts and $140 for longs as long as there is no undercoating (sdd $70). But they are a lot closer to you as well.
For future reference, in Washington the automotive consumer protection laws state that a shop cannot charge you more than 10% above the estimate given for the the work as stated on the work order. If you agreed to the price and wrote the check, it's not the shop's fault. If you don't like the estimate given, get a second opinion. Don't get the work done, then badmouth the shop for doing the job.

So find out in my post where I badmouth the shop, rather than expressing what happened and my feelings as a result.
The "estimate" was a verbal estimate prior to driving up to the shop. I had no recourse, and felt only trapped in a lame situation. They spent 3 hours trying to get some air out of a hydraulic clutch line, at my expense. They did not totally succeed, and I ended up paying for the 3 hours anyways.
My point all along is that every vendor/shop has an imperfect history. If you listen to this post, you sould walk in and hand them your CC and your keys with no concerns.
I've never met you... never conversed much with you... but I relay an experience at this shop and you call my car a rattletrap and jump on trying to say Im bad-mouthing them. Your blind frenzied defense clearly has something behind it. I'm sure others can see that. Maybe these guys are your good friends or whatever... You clearly have a bias, or a strange confronting personality. *shrug* Good luck with that.
