Brake booster

2 questions.

1. is the brake booster the same on an 85 as it is on 87-93?

2. my pedal goes SQUISH everythime i press it and i hear a whistle. nothing is disconnected and all hoses are tight. would a leaking brake booster cause an engine to sputter a bit? i would assume yes since the engine would be getting more air than fuel and leaning it out?

I am doing brakes now and had a similar issue with my 84. Basically I changed all the brakes (it needed it anyway). And changed my Master Cylinder. That fixed it. I bled the system as well.

See if you master cylinder has moisture around it. Also check your fluid level.

my fluid level is fine, and my brakes are great all the way around. but the pedal moves a 1/4 of the way in with a SQUISH before i get pressure.

I think they changed in 87 along with the brakes and what not.

forgot to mention i have 87 spindles/brakes. and calipers from a mark VIII.
