I own a stock, 96 Cobra which I'm gradually modifying. The brakes have lost a lot of grip (of no surprise). Hawk pads have been recommended, along with stainless steel lines, and possibly sanding the rotors. I need advice. Also, should I be considering a greater/bigger caliper/rotor set-up--eg, Brembo, Baer etc.? I know I'll eventually be racing this car (I already am), but road-course verses whatever, I'm not certain. I'd like my car to stop on a dime. If it helps, the tires are BFG KDW 245/45/17. Thanks.

The new pads and stainless lines will help - along with properly bleeding the brakes too. The factory cobra brakes are pretty stout for most applications.

A lot of cobra owners open track with the factory brakes - give it a try first before upgrading to a bigger brake package.
