I am looking to upgrade the brakes on my car as they are almost worn out. I am not looking to go crazy because i do not really race the car at all. I am thinking of just going with a set of new rotors and pads.

Does anyone else have any suggestions of what would be a good set up without breaking the bank?

Thanks

13" rotors with duralast gold cmax pads. Cheap and that combo does a great job imo

I have the cobra front's and they are great. 13" rotors make a huge difference. I think i got the entire kit for under 500$ including stainless brake lines.

If you want to go budget just get some nice ceramic pads and get your rotors turned, I highly recommend stainless lines too.

Well obviously you need the right calipers. I paid $180 for my Mach 1 calipers and brackets, $50 for the pads and $100 for both rotors.

A few years ago I picked up the Mach 1 front brake setup for $300 new...shortly after that the Mach setup was no longer available.

beware of Buy Ford Racing though. I had a fine experience buying my Bullitt brake kit from them, but i heard MANY horror stories on numerous forums about that company screwing over its customers.

That is troubling to hear. I bought a set of injectors from them a couple weeks ago and had no problems. Didn't have any issues when I bought my Bullitt calipers also.

Thats sad. I bought my Cobra R setup from them back in 05ish and had no issues whatsoever. They gladly substituted Ford OEM blank rotors in place of the slotted rotors that usually come with the kit.

+1 on the buy ford racing bullitt front brakes. Mine have worked well for 2 years. I combined them with powerslot rotors from AM and stainless steel brake lines. I've had no problems with buy ford racing.

The SVE calipers do indeed use the exact same pad & rotor as a 1994-2004 Cobra, 2001 Bullitt, or 03-04 Mach 1. I'm running them on my Fox & couldn't be happier!
