Brake line problems???

Hi folks,

I have a problem with low PSI (300) at the rear brakes. 700 PSI on the front! The car has a Stainless Steel power conversion kit from drum to disc on both front and rear. The intermediate brake line going to the rear distribution block is 3/16 ID. Is that to small, should it be 3/8 ID? Because of my cam, vacuum pressure at idle is 10 lbs, I know that way to low and I have a canister installed already, But I see an elec. vacuum pump is in my future. thanks, Bill

No, I have one on the rear line but it only changes the pressure about 100 psi. I emailed Stainless Brakes but no word yet. Having spent almost $2000 with them I hope they can help with some tech support. Both rear brakes over heat after driving only about 5 miles and we were very careful to make a proper install. I'm not really impressed with their system.

3/16ths line is normal for all the lines. When you measured the brake force were you standing on them as hard as you could or just applying the brakes casually? Both numbers sound way too low to me.

Otherwise, did the kit come with it's own distribution block or are you using the original one that came with your drum brakes? How are you determining an overheat condition?
