brake pads- metal 'spring' thing on top

was doing a rear brake job and accidently broke off one of those metal springs (not sure what you would call them) that sits directly on top of the pad ..
Is it ok not to have it on upon installation of the new pad?
Only issue i can see is the pads moving up in the pad bracket, however im sure would be firmed up once the caliper is firmly pressing the pads together. I dunno! thanks in advance

Anti-rattle clips, find them at auto zone, and yes you need them or else your brake pads will start squeak.
