Last week I went to change my brake pads, fronts and rears, and when i got to the left rear brake i ran into a problem. One of the Caliper Mounting Studs (those springy things that move back and fourth that the Mounting bolts go into) is frozen. It was stuck in the fully extended position when i put the caliper back on, i hoped it might work it's way lose in time, but it has not. The Stud has been stuck in the fully compressed position ever since i took the car for the first test drive (emitting a LOUD ass squealing noise near constantly). I've put over 1,000 miles on the car since.
So I guess my question is What can I do? I'd assume that it's not a user serviceable part and that I would need to replace the whole assembly. As for freeing the stud i'm not really sure how to with out pulling off the assembly, it's hard to get leverage under there. If i was to have to take off the assembly anyone have an idea of how much work this would entail? I don't really remember what it looked like back there, or if the assembly was attached to the suspension?
P.S.: any tricks to bleeding the brake lines, i thought i got all the air out (over a week ago), but last night during normal driving the pedal went to the floor and gripped within the last 10% of the range of motion and has stayed like that to where i have to push 90% of the pedal down before it grips.
