Hello all, please help me with my 99GT.On my way to the
track today my left front brakes started to burn without even really using the brakes at all.I could feel like a vibration/grinding in the pedal. It got so bad that smoke was pouring out of the wheel well, but the brakes were still stopping the car like everything was fine. When I got to the track I parked it and let everything cool down for about a half hour. When I pulled into the staging lanes at the track,my brake pedal went clear to the floor but I hadnt lost any fluid. So I wait another half hour to let it cool, and the brakes felt better. So I decide to run it.At the end of the run I hit the brakes and I feel and hear a clang/knock come from the brakes and after that they felt alot better. For the rest of the day and trip home they didnt feel quite right, but they wasnt getting hot and smoking no more.So if anyone can give me an idea on what may have happened I would appreciate it.

if the dust shield gets bent it can make clanking noises, but the brakes burning sounds like the calipers got stuck, you should check out the fluid, the brake lines, make sure the pads are allright, check the rotors, the calipers....

How Good are your brake pads? If they are wore down it could have cut a grove in your rotor so you might want to check them....And It could have been a lil rock or somthing....Never can tell....

The brake pads had about 50 miles on them when I first noticed the problem............They dont seem to be heating up any more but Ive noticed that when I brake now,the car will pull to the left a little almost like the left caliper is grabbing harder than the other side.
