brake problems

My car is a 97 gt automatic vert with 4-wheel disc brakes.

i have a leak in my right rear brake line... where i think it's called the bleeder screw screws down into the caliper. the brake fluid comes from underneath the brake line where the copper washer is, that seals the brake line to the caliper...

how do i go about removing and re-installing a new one?

another question i have is that my emergency brake isn't holding...it's putting force on the springs and the cable is moving but it's not putting a force or not enough force...i can pull away in drive. i'm not really that worried cause i drive a automatic.

and last question.. my emergency brake is noisy and i mean really noisy..it vibrates like hell and it's annoying..i usual put a jar and fill it up with change to quiet it but it looks like crap doing so...

any help would be great

The washer and the banjo bolt are not re-useable. Get new ones and install snugly and that should fix it. You will need to bleed that caliper after.

That is normal.

Sorry, no idea on this one. Someone else will know though :nice:

i'll try to see if the bolt works and a copper washer. do you know of place that just sells the copper washer? autozone, o'reilly's, and every other place only sells them in a rebuild kit.

i'm about to rip out my emergency brake cause it's so damn annoying....cables handle the whole thing....any chance that's illegal or anything? lol

They sell them in the isle. They are in the isle with all the HELP! products. They are in a yellow box full of assorted sizes of copper washers. Just use two that are close in size to what you have.

I've always reused banjo bolts with calipers. It's not exactly a wearable item

You can drive with the e-brake up, but if you park on a slope, yank the e-brake and put the car in nuetral it should stay where it is. If you don't use it, it tends to not work as well. That's why guys with automatics tend to have poor e-brakes while guys with manuals can hold their car on a steep hill with onl;y a few clicks. There are adjusters in the rear calipers for the brake. You must yank the brake up a few times with your foot off the service brake.

As for the noise..that's up to you to locate and fix. Buy a new handle on Ebay. The non-leather GT and V6 ones go cheap
