Brake Question

Hello. I recently joined this forum looking for some information about my brake problem. Since I can not find an answer by searching I guess I will have to ask.

I recently aquired a 93 model LX with 63K miles on it. MY 92 LX had 320K on it and was starting to get tired. When I start the car up, the first time I press the brake pedal while moving the right front will lock up. It does not matter if I am on gravel or pavement. Sometimes it will do it more often, especially going downhill or on slick surfaces.

Can anybody give me any pointers to look for, or has anybody experienced this problem before? The car sat for a few years before I aquired it.

Just making a guess here, but I'm wondering if maybe somehow the right front caliper is getting the full braking force from the master cylinder, rather than having it go to both front wheels?

I've seen this before with glazed pads/rotors. The caliper may be sticking or dragging or there may be a brake line issue that caused the glazing.

It won't go away without a pad and rotor replacement. It also may come back if you don't find the problem. Check the caliper and rubber brake line condition and replace those if they're suspect.

i agree with that answer about right front getting all the braking power...your left side could have a restricted/twisted brake hose,or a stuck caliper..you can also check you hard lines for kinks/pinches..
