Brake Rattle

Just changed the brake pads on my Bullitt this weekend.

After I finished up, I took the car for a test drive and I could hear the brakes rattling as I started to pull off. I've taken everything apart 3 times to recheck my work and I'm 100% sure that I've followed every step correctly.

As soon as I touch the brake pedal, the rattle goes away so I think the sound is coming from the calipers...

Anybody know how to fix this or where the rattling could be coming from?

I think I know what you are talking about. I put the Cobra brakes on and have the problem on one side. I think the noise is the caliper/pad moving (sliding) on the lower pin and/or top notched section of the bracket. I didn't realize the Cobra/Mach/Bullit calipers were true floating/sliding units, unlike the GT/V6 (calipers are bolted to the bracket).

Not sure how to correct.

yup, that's exactly what I'm talking about....I think it's the caliper sliding back and forth. Gonna check things out a bit further this evening...90* outside right now so this may take a while...

that's exactly what the problem was gearbanger. I looked at my old pads after I got home from work and I had forgotton (well, didn't know they were there lol) to take the anti-rattle clips off the old pads.

Just finished putting them back on the new pads and all is well again. Car drives like a dream and stops without the scream :D

It's amazing how much difference those little things make!!!!

Refresh my memory. Where are the anti rattle clips on the Cobra/Bullit/Mach brakes? The top of the pad is a half hexagon to fit the bracket. I don't recall a rattle clip.

This is the part that I was talking about...little thing made a HUGE differnce. Car isn't making a peep anymore :bang:

If you still have your stock (or old) pads, check them...it just clips on and you should be able to easily pull them off and put it on the new pads.
