brake starts as in -braking and hitting the gas at the same time then letting off the brake and flooring it .

is this bull**** or does it make for better starts with auto trans. ?

launching off the converter, yes it can get you better starts, usually helps when you have a higher stall though.

helps a ton, generally launch harder with less wheelspin

as said above, get a higher stall torque converter and it will make a world of difference

Depends on gears and tires etc.. My SS got the best 60' only a couple hundred over idle it liked to flash the converter better then stalling up high and launching there. Some cars with stock gears and sticky tires might bog if you stall up too high. Just have to play around and see what the car likes.
