I am looking to put a complete brake kit on my car but I am having trouble finding what company to go with. I have a 87' 5.0 and the brake system is just not good enough. I was going to upgrade to the cobra brake kit for 2,200. for that price is there another company to go with that has better brakes. I would love baer but I don't want to spend 3,500 dollars on brakes

Get the M2300K brake kit, and upgrade to the 99+ Cobra calipers or the 2005 14" Cobra fronts. Then sell the NEW UNUSED parts from the M2300K in the classifieds.

The M-2300-K Kit already comes with Cobra Calipers.

I have the M2300K kit. So, I know what it comes with.

It comes with the two piston *94 -?98?* Cobra calipers. Ford went to the four piston Cobra calipers around 99. Then in ?05?, Ford did another upgrade to the Cobra brake system.

I've been looking at upgrades. I *think* the 05 front Cobra brake upgrade (14" !) goes for around $1K - $1.5K. But, it may require 18" wheels to clear the brakes.

I have the M-2300-K on my Stang and love it too. The only SN Cobra I remember coming from the Factory with 4 Piston Front Calipers is the 00 Cobra R.

Maybe you were thinking of Saleen or Roush Stangs instead of the Cobra, although I do remember the Caliper Piston changing in size somewhere along the way, I belive it went from 38mm to 42mm.

Yup, I was likely thinking of the 2000 Cobra R. Since it's a Ford Stang OEM product (and an FRPP kit), I consider part of the Stang/Cobra family.

The FMS-M-2300-X was what I was thinking about! I know that other places sell just the calipers. Thanks!

I have the 95 Cobra R springs and 95 Cobra R rims. So, Stang, GT, Cobra, Cobra R, it's all good.

Regardless, the calipers in the FMS-M-2300-X kit was what I was thinking about. Well, at least for a future upgrade for me.

I would like to think I could do that upgrade in the future too.

will the 99 cobra calipers fit on my car if I want to upgrade the calipers. Why would I just want to upgrade the calipers?

I went with the 2000 cobra r fronts and found a company that a 13" rear kit for $400, seems to be very good so far, install for the R fronts was almost too easy.

Because Cobra calipers only work with 13" Cobra rotors and Gt calipers only work with 10.8" GT rotors. So by upgrading to Cobra calipers, it's implying you are upgrading to 13" brakes.

Personally, i'd stick with the M2300K kit or peice it together yourself. The Baer kit is overpriced for what it is. It is very similar to the 2300K kit. The front calipers are the same and the rear rotors are only 1/4" larger in diameter. The rear calipers on the 2300K are iron varga's while the baer comes with aluminum PBR's out back.

The baer kit is basically a Corvette C4 brake system adapted to fit a Mustang. The 2300K kit/factory Cobra brakes are the same Corvette C4 front brakes but with Ford's own rear brake setup which is a derivative of the 87-88 turbo coupe design of brakes.

The baer kit does come with crossdrilled rotors, but you basically pay $800-1000 for a front kit that you can buy from Ford for $330. The only difference is the logo on the caliper and pretty rotors
