Brake upgrade problems!

OK, this is going to be a part vent/part I NEED HELP situation. I got the Baer brake upgrade for my '90 from Steeda. I also got Ford Bullitt wheels (17x8). My mechanic is telling me that not only will I possibly need a spacer in the front, but also the wheels are going to be sticking out about 2 inches. I'm at a total loss right now and don't know what to do, how to proceed, etc. Can someone make any suggestions? I really need help, this car is a nightmare and I can't take it anymore.

These forums are dead of late. Anyway, Baer suggests using spacers and longer studs. Does anyone have a clue about this?

you will need more space due to the hub on the wheels not being as deep as 94-and later stangs. Why not upgrade your front spindles to 94-95 spindles. If not you will need 1/4" spacer so I am not sure where your mechanic came up with 2". If you read and search these forums you would see that this is just not the case.

He said the tires will stick out 2 inches, I dunno. Anyway, I made some calls, to both Baer and Steeda who sold me the kit. Baer says that they use the spacers on their race cars and that they do this to intentionally widen the track. Now, talking to Steeda, they said they use this kit all the time, and that it always fits using wheels that have a 24-28mm offset. I'd say that's great, but 17x8's don't come in that offset range, only 17x9's. So you're saying that I should ditch the Baer spindles and replace them with 94-95 spindles? This is killing my wallet.

Also, what is the major difference between Fox and 94/95 spindles?

its how the wheel bearing is incorporated. on the fox its housed in the rotor hat, on the sn95 its a replacable hub. the reason why youre being told to run spacers is because the fox design makes the spindle "axle" longer. with the right wheels its no problem, but mose sn95 wheels wont let the center caps clear.

So does everyone here feel confident that using the 94-95 spindles will solve this problem?

Now I have Baer telling me that the kit is customized for the Fox spindle and that i would need a new kit if I wanted to switch over. Take my advice: don't order the Baer kit through Steeda. Not only does my rep there not have a clue, but I was told that since my kit was a 'special order', I cannot return for a refund. What kind of crap is that? I could have gotten the Ford Cobra kit for less $$$ and had no problems whatsoever. Steeda talked me into the Baer kit. FYI though: Baer's tech support IS very courteous and knowledgeable. Unfortunately, it's really not their problem since it was Steeda that sold me the kit.

Jsut as another FYI: I got off the phone with Steeda, and even though the kit now appears to be missing parts that were promised would be included (prob valve, hard line brackets, etc.), the part never showed with the kit and Steeda won't take any responsibility. To make matter worse, the rep that I'm condemned to deal with, Steve, is now telling me that he recommended the Ford kit, which could not be any further from the truth (I pointed out to him that he was super hot on Baer's superior rotors compared to Ford's). I just advised him to be more forthcoming with future customers, but he was deaf to me (no, I didn't yell or cuss). All I ended up with was another phone number to Baer for a rep that isn't in the office today. Oh well, peeps. Buyer beware, eh?
