I have stock brakes on my 2000 GT. It's time to replace the pads and probably resurface the rotors, so I am wondering what my best bang for the buck is right now. I don't have Brembo kinda money. Is there a better performance pad that I should get that is in the relative price ballpark as the stock ones? Any other suggestions?

Hawks or praise dyno work well with power slots. You can also upgrade to a Bullit or Cobra front system for $400. It comes with the calipers and pads, 13" rotors and lines. I did a bit more shopping around and was able to get the Bullit caliper with pads, Power Slot Rotors and steel braided lines for $500. Not sure what your price range is but it was definately worth the upgrade, total night and day difference. Also, fade was not present and there is alot less brake dust on the wheels as well.

From what I have researched, the Bullitt and Cobra front-brake upgrade kits are exactly the same. The only difference between them is the look of the calipers. The Cobra calipers are silverish with "Cobra" in black lettering, while the Bullitt calipers are red with a white pony -- but other than that they are the same exact caliper. The rotors are 13" (not drilled or slotted) and are made by Brembo. The calipers are made by PBR. For the $400 price tag, it is a helluva deal ... likely my next mod.

(if I am off in any of my facts, please correct me)

01GT Eibach: You're right on all counts except for the price. The $399 is correct, however you have to buy lines for about $50-60 I think.

As for the rotors, just a word of advice to anybody if you see rotors that say "Brembo Cross drilled and slotted", stay away. Brembo sells either only smooth (such as the ones you mentioned), or cross drilled, or slotted.

If you buy the bullit brakes you can reuse the stock GT brake lines. You should be able to with the cobra brakes if they are the same , don't know for sure though

Cobra brake lines are not the same. The bolt going into the caliper is coarse instead of fine, and the female end is a bigger fitting.
