ok.. well i want to upgrade my front brakes on my 1990 5.0...everythigns stock...now...ive read various threads and read matt's page too for the budget upgrade..but im still confused..i dont wanna spend like all this money just on freakin brakes..i just need something for street that will stop really well and NOT SQUEAK...
what bout getting 73mm calipers, stock/motorcraft rotors, hawk pads, caliper sleeves, and stainless brake lines.....all for the front..would that setup be absolutly fine and awesome or what....
main questkon is where the hell do i buy the calipers and what brand..ive seen all these differnt kinds..i need a site to buy them at...
ppl say u need to update your MC but most say u dont...im not touchign my back drums so...the stock mc should be fine right....i dont wanna go all out ..just do a decent upgrade...

Get the 73mm calipers, and good pads/stock rotors. If your rotors are still thick, then just have them cut....

SS brake lines will give you a better pedal feel because the stock rubber lines swell...

I heard you should upgrade the MC too but I ran my brakes with just the calipers upgraded and I was fine. I was told by matt that if I jacked up on the brakes really hard then the pedal would go righ to the floor, but that never happened, even when I abused my brakes during autocross.....

what do u mean right to the floor..u mean loose ur brakes totally?? thats scary...i heard the stock mc is fine though...
now what about the 73mm calipers..which ones and what site should i buy them from that is a DIRECT bolt on and no mods are needed...also do the calipers come with those better sleeves or do i still have to buy them

Get calipers for a '91 Lincoln Mark VII. Go tot your local auto parts store and get them, the sleeves they come with are rubber.... Aluminum ones come from www.maximummotorsports.com I didn't have them and my brakes were many times greater over stock, all the sleeves do is stop the caliper from rocking when you hit the brakes....I wouldn't spend your money on them, but if you really want them, then get'em....

73mm units are direct bolt ins.

Dumb answer. A tercel can outbrake your mustang. how does that make you feel on the road?

I will be re-doing my brakes very soon, and upgrading sounds like a good idea, because the stock brakes on our cars are terrible. I'm not converting to 5 lug, 4 is fine for me. I'm not spending enormus amounts of money either.

These calipers off the Lincoln mark 7 bolt on directly, do we use the pads for the Lincoln's or the Mustangs? (theyre probably the same aren't they) and can the rotors off the Lincoln work on our cars or are the same? (i have no clue about any of this stuff but I've herd of various different stuff coming off Lincolns). Also where can we pick up the SS brake lines?
