Brake upgrades

I know this may have been done to death but I hate my stock brakes. what kind of a gain will I get on my 99GT with the Cobra 13" kit and some good pads on the front? how much will rears actually help?

HP TV, a car show on Spike TV, did a brake upgrade on their Mustang GT project car. The gain they got, was shorting down their braking distance from 60 MPH by 18 feet.

What year was the GT? Dont forget the '99-up GTs have the 2piston calipers in the front so with the cobra upgrade all you're getting really is bigger rotors. Or was it a Brembo 4piston kit you're referring to? If its a '99-up going to a Cobra setup that gave it 18feet, then the Brembo setup would give it a lot more.

The PBR calipers (Cobra/Mach/Bullitt) can take a beating. With Hawk Black race pads the car stops hard repeatedly on roadcourses. The disks are cheap ($40 at NAPA) and street pads cheaper ($20 Autozone). A good overall upgrade on a budget.

You have to consider the PBR calipers will only fit under 17" wheels so if you have a V6, you'll have to upgrade.

For tooting on the street- upgrade the pads. Roadracing/DEs, go PBR.

I've been shopping Stoptech's kit. The Bullitt wheels will not clear the calipers but the Roush wheels on my slicks work. If I can find $2gs... I'm there.
