Brake vibration

Question, my steering wheel shakes like crazy when i'm slowing down from 45+ mph. I know its something with my front brakes.

Can it ever be caused by only bad/worn brake pads, or is it always the rotors when you get the vibration?

I have slotted rotors and it sucks if there warped because they are $280/pr and cant be resurfaced. I just want to know if there is a chance that brake pads can cause it by themselves or if i should just buy all new rotors and pads.

Most likely rotors, did they heat up severly at any time recently? BTW, how do you like the borla cat-back? I love it over my 2 chamber Flows on my Winsor Fox and my delta 50s on my 02 GT

Do ou feel a pulsation in the pedal when the wheel shakes? If nt, it could be something else other than the brakes. Coule be something in the steering that is loose during brakig but not acceleration

Yeah, i get pulsing in the brake pedal while the steering wheel shakes. I ended up ordering Hawk HPS pads and new rotors. The slotted rotors i have on there that came with my Cobra R (brembo) fonts are expensive ($280/pr). I decided to go with just the OEM 13" Brembo blanks that come with cobra's ($120/pr). I'm sure they prolly perform the same as the slotted. I'm hoping they fit though, they are both 13" rotors, but didnt know if there was any other difference between rotors from the Cobra R brembo's to regular Cobra brembo's

NAPA has their own line of rotors and their drilled and slotted cobra rotors are only $80 ea. I know you get what you pay for but they have been fine on my car for 18 months. EBC greens stop as good as hawks with half the dust. Just my .02

Make sure you never wash the car and spray the rotors while they're hot. That can easily warp the hell out of them. I've had people bring their cars back because the brakes were vibrating the day after I did a brake job. One guy had been driving on the highway and in stop & go traffic for almost 2 hours, then stopped and spayed the car down as well as spraying down the rims. The cool water warped the rotors badly. He wasn't happy about having to pay for turning his rotors twice in 2 days.
