Brakes Lights Broken?

well, was doing a general tune-up today, checked my lights, and my brakes lights won't light! I come to find out that the mechanism that activates the lights broke off the pedal, and the wires are ripped out... the only thingI can think of this happened nearly 8 months ago! (or, by those who know me... 2 tickets ago) and nothing was ever said to me I guess those cops (and you local guys too) just never noticed

heh... don't know then... got it working again though so no more worry about cop trouble although, it's still very annoying it happened in the first place
