I read on www.5speedtransmissions.com that you should intially fill your Tremec 3550/TKO with a high quality ATF and then after 500-700 switch to Synchromesh. Did anyone do this or is this a waste of time and I should just go with the Synchomesh to begin with?

I've run standard ATF and Synchromesh in Tremecs before, the Synchromesh is signifigantly better feeling. I'd just go for it right off the bat. The manual calls for either but reccomends the GM stuff.

Yep, go synchromesh right off the bat. Don't powershift, speed shift, or downshift the tranny for the first 500 miles too. BEfore shifting right into reverse throw it into 5th and then come back into it, this is donw because reverse doesn't have any synchros and it will someimes grind if you try and put it in reverse too quick, putting it into 5th slows everything down enough that it willl go right in.

This is all good info. I've always run Mobil 1 ATF in T5s and Tremecs. Based on these posts, I believe I'll be trying out Synchromesh with the new TKOII. I know this wasn't my thread, but thanks for the tip just the same
