I was just wondering if anyone had any preference of brenspeeds 91 vs 93 octane tunes? Both are widely available in my area, and I'm wodering if there is REALLY a benefit (I know running a higher octane is bound to produce more power, but is it worth my $/gallon increase) from running the 93.

I agree that the difference in the price of gas wouldn't impact my decision, but if you're concerned about it just remember that (likely) you'll get 3 tunes with your tuner. You can fill with 93 octane one time, and flash the 93 tune into the car; drive it and see if you like it. Then, although you'll still have the 93 in the tank, flash the 91 tune into the car and compare. If there is not much of a noticeable difference in your opinion, run out the 93 and on the next fill-up fill it with 91.

I've got the Brenspeed tuner with the 87,89 & 93 tunes. When I first got the tuner, I filled the car with 93 octane gas then installed the 87 octane performance tune. The change in the car was dramatic. After driving for awhile I pulled into a parking lot and loaded the 89 octane tune. There was a noticable change but it was nowhere near as dramatic as the change between the stock tune and the 87 performance tune. Next I installed the 93 tune. The change between 89 & 93 was much more pronounced than the 87 to 89 change. I've left the 93 tune in the car. As has already been pointed out here, the cost difference between a tank of mid-grade and premium is ten cents a gallon, which equates to less than two bucks a tankful.
i understand that with most every performance part installed is a decrease in gas milage... but i am curious as to what you guys are averaging city/highway because i am looking into a C&L with the tune but i want to make sure that mileage dosent drop a huge amount that way i can justify spending 700 bucks

You'll be fine. With JLT2 cai, SCT tune, offroad pipes, CMRC delete plates, pullies, and 4.10 gears I can still cruise at 70mph and get 23.5 mpg. I don't bother tracking city mileage, only because between stoplights I accelerate like a banshee (by choice) so I'm sure it kills my mpg.
I have a 25 mile commute over two lane roads, most of them have posted speed limits of 45 & 55 MPH. There is very little in the way of traffic or stop lights. Once I got acustomed to the tune (a nice way of learning to keep my foot out of it) my mileage with the tune actually improved slightly from stock. I'm learning that extended idling is what kills gas mileage on these cars. If you drive a tuned car sanely you should see no appreciable difference in your MPG.
I have to be really careful with the 93 tune in mine cause I seem to keep barking the tires when I pull off.

With the 4.10's what are your rpm's at at 70 mph? Also what speed does your first gear top out at with the lower gears? I am interested in 4.10's but I have never driven a car with this ratio of gears. l would appreciate your input.

i assume thats in an auto? Should be about 2,300 rpm at 70mph with the tr-3650

If I remember right, with my manual tranny I turn 2500rpm at 75 mph with 4.10 gears, so you're about right with your statement above.

Sir what you'll see is the gas mileage go up. At first it wont be as much because your normal and will be letting it eat A LOT! But the fuel air mixture,timing, and 93 octane fuel will net much better efficiancy and performance at the same time. Cant think of much else that can do that!
I now get at least 20 mpg in the city. I never baby it, and gas it when I can do it safely all the time. So far on a 150 mile trip I got 26 to 27 mpg running 80 and faster at times. Running cruise control, and on level ground for the most part I bet near 30 mpg is no problem at the speed limit, I just rarely do that.
