I'm curious to know if they improved them or it's just luck of the draw.

Me too, that's why I was asking for dates. The one I have, the thermostat end is so thick, so I don't think it would warp after it is on the car. Maybe Ford made some changes?

If not mentioned, Autozone and DAP sell a cast (ugly) housing for 10 bucks. It has a boss for a gauge sender, etc if you need it (why I bought one for the 94), but it also comes with a plug.

If you get that one, be sure to paint it first - they get rusty lookin.

When I was lookin, some guys on the 94-95 side complained of leakage with the chrome housings. Take that for what it is worth.

good luck.

True. I have run into the same thing and i couldn't find an aluminum one like oem anywhere including Napa.
I found motorcraft warehouse had one and even with my discount i was shocked.
I found one in all my junk and used it.

As for the cast piece that I personally wouldn't use that poor excuse for a housing. True it does have a place for the gauge sender though.

It was about 6 months ago. I still have it I don't know what it is made of, but my magnet will not stick to it. If you go to the corral and do a serach I posted about it over and many replied with the same problem.
