Broken hood cable, how to get hood up?

lay down in front of the car and snake your arm up through the opening at the bottom of the bumper until you reach where the hood cable attaches to the hood latch. the cable attaches to a little spring at the bottom of the latch; get your finger on that and press it towards the driver's side (towards where the cable is coming from.) you might have to press it kinda hard. hood will pop right open.

I can get my hands through the grille opening on my '86 and release the latch mechanism with my fingers. I imagine you could do the same thing through an LX grille. A 87+ GT, though, would be quite a challenge.

I have an 89 GT and I just pull the spot where the cable attaches over and it pops right up. Pretty easy to get to and all

My 87gt I just "hang" off the front bumper with my left hand then put my long right arm up in there and do what the one above said, I can have mine popped in a couple seconds.

on my GT I had to reach from under the car but the LX I used a long screw driver and pushed on the cable end to pop the latch.
