fiveofanatic said:There are recalls, & then there are Technical Service Bulletins. There are a lot of poorly designed parts out there that get redesigned, but not recalled. Another Ford problem part I can think of is the 4.6 SOHC intake manifold, the plastic coolant runners crack & split open from the heat cycling (seems like an obvious DUH). Ford has a redesigned intake with cast aluminum coolant passages instead of plastic, but the car owner foots the bill for replacement.
