Brownish fuel in the Fuel Filter! How bad is that??

Ive been having idle problems lately and couldnt figure out why, now its gone to not being able to start, like its not getting enough fuel, or any fuel? I checked out the Fuel Filter and was pouring it out and it was like a brownish redish rusty looking liquid, I take it that the fuel filter is clogged pretty bad, could i have done any more damage to the car with a fuel filter like that??

thats the job of the filter to catch things like that, did you put a new one on and try it

well lol ya......................eventually all that will travel it's way to your injectors so re-place it asap you should be doing it every 30k. do nt feel bad i poured one out the other day from a 88 herizon that was black fuel but she had T.B.I.

I change fuel filters all the time at work, it's normal when you remove a fuel filter and let it flow out backwards you get some dark dirty fuel. I change mine every year and it comes out clear, but I guess that is another bennifit of premium fuel. I run Ammaco/BP 93 almost strictly.

that is common on motorcycle tanks when they rust inside. do our tanks rust? on bikes, you can clean and seal the inside of the tank (products like Kreem), but i would rather get a new tank for 100 bucks on the stang......i dont even know if our tanks can rust inside (a reason that vehicles are stored with a full tank over the winter).

and as said, replace it fairly often till you replace it and the fuel is clear....

has anyone ever figured out a way to put another inline filter near the fuel rail? probably a huge pain, but i like the idea.
