Budget rebuild, what to do?

I'm rebuilding my 5.0 and looking to spend around $1000 tops. What's the best route to go? I have to bore the block so new pistons with a higher compression ratio are a distinct possibility, but will re-use the stock crank/rods. What's the best way to go in this rebuild to get the power up beyond the stock rating of 225hp? I've been thinking about doing some portwork on my stock e7's but haven't had a lot of time lately due to work. Any suggestions are welcome, just remember I have a ~$1000 budget. Thanks

i don't know, but I think boring is around $500. I'm not sure how much porting heads is, but maybe you could find a set of GT-40P's or something...I hear you can get them from an explorer for like $200 and probably the intakes are about the same.
