Bugs on the front bumper

Smeared bugs are killing my front bumper, I can't get them off. Even if I scrub with warm soap water, they still don't come off good. You can still see guts all over the bumper after a good wash. Makes it look like I completely missed that area. I probably still have guts on there from last summer.

The car is black of course so it looks like crap. Is there any kind of cleaner to take them off without hurting the paint? How about sticker remover? It's a large area so I don't won't to use something harmful.

I've always used bug and tar remover. KoolDawg uses Wesley's Bleach White for pretty much any gunk on his car. If that works on burnt rubber, I'm sure it'll work for bugs, too.

Yes, Westley's Bleech White works wonders for week old stuck on tire rubber Never tried it for bug removal, but it should work just the same(gunk on paint is gunk on paint). Diluted Purple Power and FasWax also work great!

Thanks, I guess I can pick some up at advanced auto? I didn't know they even made bug remover.

You could also try automotive clay. That removes contaminants that are stuck to the paint above the surface. Be sure to use lubricant that is designed for use with the clay, such as Meguiar's Quik Detailer.

And keep a good coat of wax on the bumper. That should make it easier to remove the buggers in the future.

I'm planning on waxing the car again this spring, I guess I should go ahead and just clay bar the front bumper first. Then keep some sort of bug remover on hand throughout the warm weather and keep them off before they've been on too long.

I always carry a spray bottle of water and clean the bumper and windshield after reaching my destination, before the bugs have time to dry. My wife has come to accept the fact that she has to wait at least 5 minutes before we are ready to walk away from the stang. It's the least she can do for the longer wait I usually have before we are ready to go out anywhere.

Sticker remover works awesome for bugs and tar. That is what I use. PB Blaster brand.

I've done that with a bottle of detailer spray, takes two minutes to wipe the bugs off the bumper if you do it then.

I hear ya! Back when I had my white '95 GT. The wife and I drove from Central VA to Nashville during the summer. When we got there the front end looked like it got hit by a Fruity Pebbles bomb! First stop I made was to the carwash(I brought my bucket and supplies with me )!

Definitely keep the car waxed and that stuff should just "come right off in the wash"

"Bounce" dryer sheets with water work well for me. If you let the bugs sit for to long the damage is done after about 2 days. You have to clean them off after you drive. Keep a role of "Bounce" in the trunk so you are always prepared. I say this from experience, ever heard of "love bug" season in Florida?

WD-40 works well on bugs too.

I'd love to have a bug on my bumper about now. Drove about 20 miles through 3-4 inches of fresh snow up a mountain canyon to get to work this morning.

Believe it or not, I use liquid lighter fluid. Bugs and remnants come right off. Then I wash w warm soapy water, dry. Once a year clay bar, and maintain with Meguires spray detailer. Bumper looks like new. Now if I could only find a way to eliminate rock chips as easy.

Yeah that is the trick to make em come off easy.

clay bars are awesome!! and semi truck drivers sometimes spray the front of their bumpers with pam cooking spray so bugs dont stick.....lol not that I recommend that for our cars!!
