I was talking to a guy, and he explaned to me how to read my vin number. From what he told me, the last 6 numbers of your vin tell what number car you have. Each year the last 6 digits of the vin start with 100000 and go up from there as each car is produced. Then in the door you will find the build date, month and year.

So, here is my question. Who has the earliest car produced?

Mine is 100532, build date 08/2004

I think weve all been snuckered about build production numbers, here is some vins from 2007 model mustang GT's xxxxxxxH075196907 and xxxxxxHX75213616. as you can see the production #'s are already in the hundreds of thousand on the second one so they are not really producing them in a numerical order.

104334 so it looks like you got me for earliest car made available to public. I thought that the first 300 cars went to for crash testing/media and then a couple hundred were laid down for flaws or such so i must be wrong if it looks like you have the 400 something pony let loose on the streets. My build date was 9/04, bought used in Feb 05 with 2889 miles from some sucker getting married who's wife thought they should have a JEEP Liberty. (He should have to turn in his man card immediately then go see his doctor to have a pair of B@LL$ perscribed for the next time he goes to the grocery he might pick those up.) Enjoy your stangs, love your stangs, then give them to your children as classics.:SNSign:

I know I'm bringing this older thread back, but, I wanted to let ya'll know if you get an "Oasis" Report from your Dealer's Service Department it will have the exact build Day on it, example mine was built 08/05/06 according to the Oasis Report.

If you still have your dealer sticker, it's on the right upper corner in big numbers after the vin. Mine is 109356, build date is also on sticker, mine is 10/27/04, delivered 11/19/04. Thats at the very bottom right side of the page.

I beleive the 10/27/04 date is the date the VIN # is assigned, not the date it is built, check an Oasis report on your vehicle and it will have a different date than that one as the build date.

Also the big numbers on the upper right of my '07 is 223614, I find it hard to beleive that an '07 built on 8/5/06 or the Vin # assigned on 7/27/06 would be well over the 200,000th one for '07?

I believe what hotrodnut says is correct: the date on my window sticker is 6/21/06, and the quality control sticker on the spare tire cover says the cover was manufactured on 6/28/06. It's not possible to have a part installed before it is even made.
