I am building a 8.8 rear end for my '89 GT. The guy that is putting it together has always raced Mustangs (Ring Racing) and is said to be the best in the area. He told me to get all my parts together and drop them off. Im curious what all parts I need to assemble the rear end...please add anything else I need to order.

-8.8 rear end housing
-girdle or cover
-Ford Racing 3.73 gear set
-Auburn HD 31-spline diff
-31 spline axles

What bearings do I need? Should I go with a girdle or just a cover? Thanks.

Right now Im just going through the underneath of the car undercoating/replacing control arms/replacing springs/ etc. This winter I plan on building a 331 stroker and installing my 150hp Nitrous Express kit. Thanks for any help.

As far a bearings you'll need pinion and carrier bearings. You'll also need a new crush sleeve, pinion seal, and pinion and carrier shims. I'm getting ready to do one for a guy and he picked up a nice kit on 50 resto that comes with FMS gears and the intall kit included. And don't forget gear oil. The girdles look cool, don't know how much they help but I have the T/A on mine and really like it. It's nice having a drain plug so you can change the oil w/o removing the cover. My initial response was off, I missed that you were replacing the carrier.
