building a 347 what intake???

I'm building a stock block 347 with a coast rotating assembly. I have a set of ported trick flow tw heads that flow just under 300 cfm. The intake i have is the trickflow street heat. Is that intake gonna be to small? If it is what intake do you guys suggest? Also what kind of numbers should i expect with this 347 and my ported heads to the rear wheels? It is going thru a c4 trans. Thanks!

300 CFM should make a stout 347! When you start flowing around that much though you might sacrifice torque down low or run into some driveability problems in a street car.

I'd go with a TFS intake or a Performer II intake. Stay away from cobra or explorer type intakes.

It's hard to say how much power you'll make. It depends a lot on the cam and CR.

You should be able to make 400 RWHP pretty easy with the right cam and a good tune.

Really depends on the cam, CR and intentions of the car....

With a healthy cam and shifting above 7000rpm with a 4:30 gear or so I'd look into a Victor 5.0 or a ported Holley SysteMAX II. If your more street car oriented I'd look into a box stock Holley or RPM II, or even the TFS-R.

Whats the entire combo? Whats the weight of the car? 5spd or Auto? Rear Gear? Exhaust size?

Yea i think we need to know a little more about the combo/intentions for the car. Is this going to be a street or strip car? How streetable is acceptable for you? What kind of converter are you looking at running? What gear?

I think you are going to want a very healthy intake if your heads flow that much. Definitely something like an RPM II or a systemax II. The TFS-R would work...even a TFS box.

I see three issues of a little concern:

- Stock Block
- Revving past 7,000
- Potential to make 400+ rwhp

The power output will depend on compression, camshaft, accessories, attention to detail, and engine builder.

Otherwise, I like the Holley myself.

The rest of my combo is an anderson b31 cam, c4 trans 4000 stall, 3:73 gear, and all the bolt crap you can buy. The car is not a daily driver, it is a street /strip car that sees more street but only on nice sunny days. With everything i have last year the car went 11.67@112 with a stock shortblock with 140K miles on it.

Im running a typhoon on my 347 w/ AFR 185s and a Z cam. Probably wasnt my brightest idea to run a typhoon, but money was short. From what Ive read, Im thinking of going with either a Holley or a TFS intake?

A stock Victor 5.0 will feed that, TF Box or you could go with an EFI conversion like Victor Jr. An R is a good long runner for it as well as a ported Holley SMII.

It made 310 hp/ 340 tq. That is with no tune and I was going way lean at WOT, like 16:1. I am running 30lb injectors w/ a 255lph pump and the fuel pressure was at 42lbs with the vacuum line plugged in.

aren't all the TF intakes the same? I thought the trackheat and the R just had more port work done to them.

Buddy of mine is running the holley and it make very good power.

This is going off memory, but if I recall the TFS-R has an 11.5" runner while the trackheat has a 12" runner. The ports at the head are the same, but the TFS-R is larger "up-top"...

The TFS R lower is NOT the same as the street/track lower. Had both, been there/done that.

According to trickflow the port dimensions are the same at the bottom, but larger on top, where the upper meets the lower..

My reference above was to the lower intake alone if there is any confusion.

depends on gear, and rpm range. I would shoot for either a TFS track heat or Edelbrock RPM II, these make great power in the 1500 to 6500rpm range.
